Does his own confidence mean anything?

the same scored calls, split by how hard he was pushing at the mention that set his final stance. If credit rises with strength, his table-pounding carries information and you should weight it. If it's flat or inverted, his confidence is noise — treat a ×3 like a ×1. Cells under 5 calls are provisional and get no weight in the replay.

That's the global lesson, by the way. Chamath, you're totally right. Conceptual, the blog post is right. But that's only true when you have enough data and depending upon the use case, the level of data you need may not be possible for years, decades, and you may need to hack your way there through human interactions.

The most important thing I think as a VC that you said, as we've been debating for years, should we invest in companies like Scale, or WorkCore, or any of these surge? The truth is, I think there's a very short half-life on human-label data. And so, everybody who's investing in these companies, just looking at revenue traction, really didn't understand that there may be a year, two years, three years max, when anybody uses human-label data for maybe anything.

This is actually what Google should be doing, truthfully. Like I think Google's also, Google Search, Quos Search is toast. And since they have Chrome and they theoretically have a quality team in Gemini, they should be putting these two things together and hoping to compete with chat, GBT. They are going to lose the search game. The assets that are best at Google right now have nothing to do with search. Every other product is the only thing that's going to save that company if they can figure out how to use them.
support ×3 explicit_prediction 📈 Apple has completed the transition from growth company to cash cow and loses the AI cycle E235 · 2025-07-11 ▶ 54:53
And if you continue this failed strategy of Apple, Apple has missed every possible window on AI and continues to miss it. And it has cultural. I think the CEO has challenges. I think culturally, they have challenges. I think they have infrastructure challenges. So it's not an easy fix.

OpenAI, at career point, they do have a good product team and they need to stay ahead on the product level because they can't compete on the factory level. The way to stay ahead of the product level is shipping a device. You got to ship the device. It's got to be good. It's got to be right. It's got to be the right form factor. It's got to do things for humans that are unexpected. But then if they do that, they're like Apple plus AI.

Like this EO is only approved to allow for the planning. I think the vote might be closer. I think there's still a majority on the Supreme Court for the actual implementation, but it may not be 8-1 when there's a specific plan that has to navigate its way through the courts again.

It's safe. Yeah. It's safe right now. We'll see on November 4th. You know, as you probably heard, on July 4th was the first time in recorded history that there were no shootings or no murders in New York on that day. So right now, things are in pretty good shape, but we may be leaving New York quickly.

So this is where details do matter. I think there is a willingness and a, you know, discipline problem on both parties, and I think maybe he can help fix that. The second thing is that we have these arcane rules, particularly in the Senate, that you need 60 votes in many ways to cut things, except through very hacky methods. And that's a reality.

First of all, I think there's a long time before this becomes a commercial product or application of any sort. So it's great that they're taking money, but think about it as almost like Stanford takes money or the US government funds basic research in some ways. This is at least a decade out kind of thing.

And then playing on a field that's not favorable to them, which is there are advantages Apple has in AI, but there's some significant organizational structural disadvantages. And that's the field that people are going to be competing on for the next five years from a consumer perspective. And they're playing on a field where they don't have all the advantages in their favor.

And but now, like my photos app is completely unusable. So I totally understand, you know, Chamath, the frustration and they are showing like the decay function, you know, culturally and otherwise, that eventually somebody will figure out an angle to rip them out.
support ×3 explicit_prediction 🤖 AI value migrates from apps to the vertically integrated hardware/OS layer E207 · 2024-12-13 ▶ 46:04
So the most important thing about Apple is to remember it's vertically integrated, and vertically integrated companies, when you construct them properly, have a competitive advantage that really cannot be assaulted for a decade, 20, 30, 40, 50 years. And so chips, classic illustration, go all the way down to the metal, build a chip that's perfect for your desired interface, your desired use cases, your desired UI, and nobody's going to be able to compete with you.

My anecdotal experience is there's AI companies where the market's pretty hot, maybe cooling a little bit, but hot, and AI companies with the right team are getting funded frequently, quickly, etc.
