🏛️ RFK's MAHA agenda puts a policy overhang on processed food and soda

“I mean, it's the three issues ending censorship, and that's pretty easy to do. You can do it with a series of executive orders, ending the Ukraine War, which is complex, but I think can be done very, very quickly. And then, you know, the food issue now, it's the food, it's medicine, it's corruption, and that regulatory agencies.”

“And it is again, $120 billion of annual federal spend with the biggest line item going to canned soda to feed 42 million Americans. And the connection is completely direct. High sugar, high glycemic index, diabetes, and other chronic health conditions arise from that connection.”

“Well, I've already commented on the fish. The fish is outrageous, but there are ways to eat at a materially lower price than there is here, and the access to the ultra-processed food is different there. You can't get the stuff, and when you do find that stuff, it doesn't have the same glycemic and metabolic load on your body.”

“You've spoken about the issue of chronic health, which to be honest is an issue I didn't know that much about, but I think you've put it now on the political radar screen in a way that it's not going away.”

“And number three, he's genuinely going to reform that huge part of the bureaucracy. And that's extremely important. We need outsiders to come in and shake things up. He's right about the regulatory capture.”

“Vaccines, are they good or bad? When? How? Fluoride, is it good or bad? When? How? All of these drugs that have been approved, why? All of these drugs that have not been approved, why? You're going to start to see some really interesting things. Has there been research on the impacts of food on physiology? Were they suppressed? Were they not suppressed?”

“I have very deep trepidation about RFK having oversight. I think the authority might be limited with respect to the legislative authority that's vested by the Congress, which is the one piece.”

“And I think Bobby Kennedy has a very strong argument that it would serve the public interest not to allow this. We don't allow advertisements for tobacco, right?”

“The reason the cost of drugs has gone way up is because so much of the government insurance programs don't negotiate drug prices and there are all these middlemen and all these people that sit in between that have been regulated through regulatory capture into the system that has allowed an incredible inflation in the cost of drug prices.”

“I am fascinated by Bobby Kennedy going in and trying to make the country healthier, and the country is the most sick country, I think, of all of the Western countries, and I think our food system has massive problems, so I'm very excited to see what he does inside of the Health and Human Services Department.”
