So if you are talking about just artificially lowering prices by basically clocking Pharma, the reality is if you want to kill R&D, this is a great way to kill R&D.
Chamath Chamath support ×3 ▼ on 🏛️ MFN drug-pricing EO compresses pharma profits and pushes R&D offshore E228 · 2025-05-17 ▶ 1:28:43
You'll make 10 million bucks, which is not enough to fight this R&D battle. So if you then further affect the profitability scale of pharma, the impact is probably that we push R&D to different places.

I would be very cautious about the side effects that are going to arise from these protease inhibitors. ... I think as more people use them, you'll see more crazy stories about side effects that are really significantly adverse.
Sacks Sacks support ×2 ▲ on 📈 Boosters + oral antivirals become the standard COVID stack E60 · 2021-12-23 ▶ 36:41
These new pills have, I think, a very good shot of doing it next year because they're protease inhibitors. ... I am hopeful that this will be the thing, hopefully, that ends the pandemic next year, are these new antiviral pills.

The only thing that seems to work is vaccines and booster shots. There's some good data around the third data, the third booster preventing serious cases.
Chamath Chamath support ×3 ▲ on 📈 Boosters + oral antivirals become the standard COVID stack E49 · 2021-10-02 ▶ 42:40
I think that the combination of vaccines and what is equivalently Tamiflu for COVID, which is effectively what this is, is the one-two punch we need so that this basically is rendered.
Friedberg Friedberg support ×1 ▲ on 📈 Boosters + oral antivirals become the standard COVID stack E49 · 2021-10-02 ▶ 40:57
We don't yet know if it reduces the transmission rate. So there's a lot of question marks on like, does this actually solve the problem of the pandemic? It's certainly another instrument to blunt the, you know, the impact.
Jason Jason support ×1 ▲ on 📈 Boosters + oral antivirals become the standard COVID stack E42 · 2021-07-30 ▶ 15:38
Give me the third shot of Pfizer. And then I opened up Drudge Report yesterday. And it's like third shot of vaccine, a Pfizer in Israel or whatever. They're just going to start giving people a third shot. Yeah, I just want to get ahead of the curve.
Sacks Sacks support ×2 ▲ on 📈 Boosters + oral antivirals become the standard COVID stack E42 · 2021-07-30 ▶ 16:08
there's one other piece of news that came out that I think is very positive on COVID, which is the availability of these oral antivirals, the pills. ... So I think that, you know, with the reduced effectiveness of vaccine, what we're going to have to do is supplement the vaccines and the boosters with home testing.
