🌍 Tariff receipts plus cut savings re-rate the US and pull in global capital
Chamath's arithmetic off the May deficit Sankey: tariffs are run-rating $300-400bn a year above forecast on the receipts side, and a 100bp cut would save roughly another $300bn of interest on the debt, so inside 60 days the American balance sheet has to be re-forecast about $600bn better than the current snapshot implies. With the deficit trajectory improving rather than deteriorating there is nowhere else for global risk capital to go - Japan and Europe lose the flow and every marginal risk dollar rotates into US assets.
⚖ Why this verdict
fully deterministic — evaluate.py replays this from daily closes; nothing below is editable or hand-set
- Window: 2025-06-13 → 2025-12-13 — first mention + 6-month horizon, then the window locks.
- The call: ▲ LONG SPY (primary play). SPY rose 14.8% over the window → direction-adjusted R = +14.8% (the call made money).
- Benchmark: holding SPY over the same window returned +14.8% → α = +14.8 − (+14.8) = +0.0% — what this call made or lost against just owning the index. This is the number the verdict uses. (SPY is itself the primary here — scored on R alone.)
- Rule fired:
▶ HIT — R ≥ +10% AND α ≥ +5 ✓ (R 14.8, α 0.0)· PARTIAL — R ≥ +5% OR α ≥ 0· MISS — everything else
- Credit: supporters of a HIT earn 1.0 each, opposers the inverse — this feeds the scoreboard weights. supported: Chamath, Sacks | opposed: Friedberg | benchmark-primary: scored on R alone | proxy-sensitive: UUP→MISS (+2.9%)

Mention log
“So if you add these two things together, we are in the next 60 days going to have to re-forecast the American balance sheet where this is, or we're actually going to be able to positively forecast an extra 600 billion, 300 billion of incremental revenue, and 300 billion of savings. Jason, if that happens, watch out. What does that mean, watch out? It means that every single risk dollar is going to run to America. Every single one.”
“And so as long as that's the case, I think you're going to continue to have a bid for equities. If all of a sudden the MAG 7 decided to delist and not be American companies, and all of a sudden showed up in the CAC 50 in France, yeah, we'd be in big trouble. But I don't think that's going to happen. And so as long as there's American ingenuity and American supremacy, again, which goes back to the other thing, which is we can't kill these golden geese, nor should we kill the emerging and growing golden goose, which is AI. And as long as those things are the same, there will be a constant bid for American assets.”
