Anthropic exits 2026 at $100-120B ARR (10x YoY, reportedly profitable); a $1.5-2T IPO is only ~16-20x sales and the stock trades up, with next-year exit ARR consensus around $400-500B. Its quarterly numbers become the pace car for the whole AI trade.
I think Anthropic is the multiple bet. I think Anthropic is a trillion five market cap at the end of the day, unless this blows them up... Anthropic is worth a lot more than 350... They just added 6 billion in the last month... everyone's saying the same thing, which is Anthropic may actually be fulfilling the promise of AI.
I think Google is the market value creator bet... it's only going to take 90 days for Google to flip on a virtual version of co-work. And once Google has this integrated with G Suite... I think Google sweeps the market with this same competitor.
Frontier intelligence has consolidated into an Anthropic/OpenAI duopoly (xAI in the hunt) that can charge a persistent premium over open-source/commodity tokens — Apple-vs-Android economics where the frontier captures most of the profit pool. The bear case: open-source catches up and the six-month lead (and the premium) evaporates.

War episode with Under Secretary of War Emil Michael. US strikes on Iran, IRGC attempts to close the Strait of Hormuz, oil spikes to $84 (adverse to oil-decline-2026 but nobody reversed the thesis — the melting-iceberg call now needs war premium to fade), supertanker traffic -94%, war-risk insurance pulled — Friedberg's Lloyd's-of-London explainer and the US DFC stepping in as maritime insurer of last resort ('could onshore maritime insurance to the US' — new-industry idea, no instrument yet). Chamath frames the strikes as China containment: Iran+Venezuela+Russia = ~40% of China's oil, choking Beijing ahead of a grand bargain; China guides to 4.5-5% GDP, lowest in 30 years. The Pentagon formally designates Anthropic a supply-chain risk (first US company ever) after canceling its $200M contract over autonomous-weapons and surveillance clauses. Fallout captures: Chamath's multi-model-imperative oppose on anthropic-ipo ('enormous business risk after Friday', de-platforming times a thousand) and his model-commoditization oppose on frontier-ai-premium ('error bars shrinking... all becoming the same'); Friedberg counters with the strongest Anthropic bull case on record ('the multiple bet... trillion five at the end of the day, unless this blows them up'; +$6B revenue in a month; Cowork 'giving truth to AI') while predicting Google flips a virtual Cowork inside 90 days and 'sweeps the market' (attached to ai-personal-agents-google; Google announced Workspace agent integration the same day). Chamath discloses 8090's inference costs tripled since Nov 2025 (capex-supercycle demand receipt). Dario's pay-for-play accusation vs the administration and Emil's old-primes-to-new-primes defense procurement thread (Anduril/Palantir) are digest-only. Labels: guest properly labeled; the 1:03:20-1:04:15 lab-picking exchange is all labeled Friedberg (moderate confidence it is one speaker — spot-check if the anthropic-ipo support ever matters for credit).
